Railway authorities conducted a significant eviction drive at Jamtail Railway Station in Kamarkhand, Sirajganj, on Monday, March 9, 2026. The operation, which lasted from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, aimed to clear illegal structures that had encroached upon station grounds. Md. Shafiqul Islam, the Estate Officer and Executive Magistrate of the Pakshi Division of Western Railway, led the drive to restore order and ensure safer passenger mobility.
More than 60 unauthorized establishments, ranging from fruit stands to tea stalls, were removed during the operation. Authorities also disconnected several illegal electricity lines connected to these shops. Officials stated that multiple notices had been served to the encroachers prior to the drive, urging them to vacate the government land voluntarily. The drive was deemed necessary to address the severe passenger congestion caused by the illegal occupation of platforms and entry points.
The operation saw the presence of high-ranking officials from Western Railway, including the Divisional Commercial Officer, Divisional Engineer, and Divisional Electrical Engineer. The eviction was supported by personnel from Kamarkhand Police Station, Railway Police, and the Railway Security Force (RNB). This collaborative effort ensured the smooth removal of structures and served as a stern warning against further encroachment.
Following the success of the drive, railway officials reiterated their commitment to protecting railway property. They have emphasized that regular monitoring will be in place to prevent any re-encroachment. This intervention has been met with relief by regular train commuters, as it paves the way for easier access to the station platforms and a more orderly environment for the public.
