Russian Missile Strikes on Kyiv Kill 4, Injure More Than a Dozen

Date:

International Desk:

At least four people were killed and more than a dozen others injured after Russian missile strikes targeted Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, on Saturday, according to local officials.

The attack came shortly after Kyiv’s mayor warned residents of an incoming ballistic missile threat. Journalists on the ground reported hearing more than 10 explosions in rapid succession, with the powerful blasts triggering car alarms across several parts of the city.

Emergency services rushed to the affected areas, where firefighters worked to extinguish blazes and rescue teams searched damaged buildings. The wounded were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, while authorities assessed the extent of the destruction.

The latest strike follows a recent United Nations report stating that June 2026 was the deadliest month for civilians in Ukraine since April 2022, as Russia intensified its long-range missile and drone attacks on towns and cities across the country.

The attack underscores the continuing escalation of the war, with civilian areas increasingly bearing the brunt of the conflict.
