Prime Minister Tariq Rahman attended the “National July Conference” on Saturday morning to pay solemn tribute to the martyrs of the historic July 24 mass uprising.
The national memorial convention commenced at 10:00 AM at the China-Bangladesh Friendship Exhibition Centre (BICC) in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. The high-profile state assembly gathered cross-sections of society, including bereaved families and frontline activists, to honor those who sacrificed their lives during the historic civil revolution.
Organized jointly by the “July 24 Martyrs’ Family Society” and “We the July Warriors,” the conference marks the formal second anniversary of the historic uprising, colloquially known as “36th July.”
The memorial serves as the anchor event for a comprehensive nine-day national commemoration grid finalized by the student wing Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal. Executive dispatches confirm that this extensive anniversary layout will officially launch on July 15 with a premier seminar at the Dhaka University Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium, culminating in a massive student rally on August 3 at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tariq Rahman is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the closing rally. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed alongside senior cabinet executives and administrative policymakers also attended Saturday’s inaugural state conference to show institutional solidarity with the victims’ families.
