Fatal traffic collision in Noakhali: Two motorcyclists killed

Date:

TBM Report

In a devastating manifestation of regional transit insecurity, two teenage motorcyclists sustained fatal trauma following a high-impact head-on collision with a sand-laden pickup van in the Kabirhat upazila of Noakhali district. The traffic anomaly occurred at approximately 09:00 PM on Tuesday (June 23, 2026) near the Baripukur Par grid-point within the Sondalpur union infrastructure, according to verified dispatches from the Kabirhat Police Station.

The deceased have been identified as Tarek Rahman Shiblu (16), son of Kamal Uddin from Ward 8, and Jihad Hossain (19), son of Rahmat Ullah from Ward 9 of the Basurhat municipality under neighboring Companiganj upazila. Preliminary physical mechanics of the crash indicate the velocity was severe enough to crush the motorcycle framework, wedging the chassis entirely beneath the front axle of the freight vehicle and causing instantaneous mortality to both riders.

Confirming the administrative and forensic response, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kabirhat Police Station, Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan, stated, “A tactical traffic unit was deployed to the Sondalpur sector immediately post-collision. Our units successfully extracted the bodies of the victims and towed the compromised vehicles to the station compound. Concurrently, law enforcement executed a perimeter sweep, successfully apprehending the fleeing pickup driver, identified as Mohiuddin (40), and impounding the commercial freight vehicle.”

The Gazipur and Noakhali regional transit commands have initiated protocols to transfer the deceased to the Noakhali 250-Bed General Hospital morgue for a statutory post-mortem evaluation. A formal criminal brief is being finalized under the Road Transport Act to penalize reckless commercial driving dynamics. Traffic safety advocates have cited the incident as indicative of the heightened risks associated with unregulated night-time commercial logistics deployment across rural arteries.
