In a bid to strengthen bilateral ties, the Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh, Reto Rengli, met with the Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping, Sheikh Rabiul Alam MP, on Sunday, March 8, 2026. During the courtesy call at the Secretariat, the Ambassador congratulated the new government on its landslide victory and expressed Switzerland’s keen interest in expanding cooperation across mutual interests.
Ambassador Rengli highlighted the long-standing friendly relationship between the two nations and pledged continued support for Bangladesh’s infrastructure development, technology sector, and port management. He assured that Switzerland is ready to provide technical assistance and investment in various development projects to accelerate Bangladesh’s modernization journey.
Responding to the gestures, Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam MP noted that international partnerships are crucial for Bangladesh’s rapid development. He emphasized that joint efforts in technology transfer and infrastructure management would further streamline the execution of ongoing mega-projects. The Minister welcomed Swiss investment, hoping that the synergy between the two countries would set a new benchmark for bilateral economic relations.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to sustained communication and partnership to achieve shared prosperity and regional stability.
