Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has characterized the 13th National Parliamentary Election as a festive and historic event, despite reports of isolated irregularities and “unwanted incidents.”

Speaking at a press conference organized by the 11-party electoral alliance at the party’s central office in Moghbazar on Thursday (12 February) afternoon, leaders expressed strong confidence that their candidates would secure the highest number of seats across the 299 constituencies contested.

Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer, Assistant Secretary General and head of the Central Publicity and Media Department, told reporters that the spontaneous participation of the public has proven that a fair and beautiful election is indeed possible in Bangladesh.

He extended his gratitude to the Election Commission, the government, and all relevant stakeholders. Reflecting on the significance of the day, Jubayer noted that February 12, 2026, marks a milestone where both the parliamentary election and a national referendum were held simultaneously, successfully moving past the legacy of failed elections in 2014, 2018, and 2024.

The alliance highlighted the extraordinary public enthusiasm, noting that citizens traveled by trawlers, buses, and launches to reach their villages to cast their votes.

Jubayer remarked that long queues were visible as early as 7:30 AM, describing it as an exceptional election free from major casualties. He credited the interim government, formed after the student-led mass uprising on August 5, 2024, for prioritizing justice, reform, and the delivery of this election to meet the nation’s aspirations.

However, Jamaat raised concerns regarding specific irregularities in several constituencies.

Advocate Jubayer alleged that their agents were barred from entering polling centers in Shariatpur-2, Cumilla-8, and Patuakhali-1, among others. He also reported instances of voter intimidation and physical assault in certain areas, noting that these issues were immediately brought to the attention of the administration and the Election Commission.

Regarding the final outcome, the 11-party alliance stated they are monitoring the situation through the Election Commission’s control room. Due to the simultaneous counting of three separate ballots—parliamentary, referendum, and postal—full results may not be available until Friday. Despite these challenges, Jubayer reaffirmed his firm belief that the electorate has supported the alliance’s 299 candidates, and they expect to emerge victorious with a significant mandate to fulfill the expectations of the people.
