The electoral landscape of Bhola-4 (Char Fasson-Manpura) is witnessing an unprecedented surge in female participation as the February 12 national election approaches. On Monday morning, thousands of women gathered at the Abdullahpur Union Parishad ground for a courtyard meeting (Uthan Baithak) in support of BNP candidate Nurul Islam Noyan.
Local elders described the massive turnout of female voters as a “rare phenomenon” in the region’s political history.
Addressing the gathering of over 5,000 people, Noyan—who also serves as the General Secretary of Jubo Dal—vowed to transform Char Fasson into a safe and peaceful sanctuary. He issued a stern warning to extortionists, land grabbers, and drug traffickers, stating that those who do not reform before the polls will be handed over to law enforcement. Noyan emphasized his commitment to women’s empowerment, drawing inspiration from the pioneering initiatives for female education and rights during the previous BNP administrations led by Begum Khaleda Zia.
The campaign event was coordinated by local leader Ashraful Rahman Dipu Farazi, whose organizational efforts have been widely praised by both the candidate and the rural community. Supporters chanted “Sheaf of Paddy” (Dhaner Sheesh) slogans, echoing Tarique Rahman’s vision for a modern and inclusive Bangladesh. As the countdown to the election begins, the proactive involvement of women in grassroots rallies suggests a potential shift in the electoral dynamics of this crucial coastal constituency.
