Renowned Indian filmmaker Mira Nair has surfaced in the latest batch of documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
According to the records unsealed on Friday, January 30, 2026, Nair’s name appears in an email discussing a social gathering held at the Manhattan townhouse of convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.
The email, dated October 21, 2009, was written by American publicist Peggy Siegal. It lists Mira Nair as a guest at an “after party” for a film, alongside prominent figures such as former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and industrialist Jean Pigozzi. While the film was not explicitly named in the communication, experts suggest the event was likely the premiere party for the biographical film Amelia, which was directed by Nair and released that same month.
The ongoing disclosure has released over 3 million pages of documents, including approximately 100,000 photos and 2,000 videos.
Mira Nair, who is also the mother of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, has yet to issue a public response. News agency PTI reported that their attempts to reach the director for comment remained unsuccessful. While being mentioned in the files does not imply criminal wrongdoing, the release continues to cast a spotlight on the expansive social circles connected to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
