Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) intercepted smuggled goods, narcotics, and arms worth over Tk 1,908.28 crore during nationwide operations throughout 2025. According to a year-end report released on January 26, the paramilitary force maintained a rigorous vigil across the country’s border and inland areas from January 1 to December 31.
The seized inventory includes 60.5 kg of gold, 168 kg of silver, and vast quantities of garments, sugar, and electronic items. In its crackdown on illegal weaponry, BGB recovered 64 pistols, 19 hand grenades, and various explosives, significantly thwarting potential security threats.
Furthermore, the force made massive drug busts, seizing approximately 14.7 million Yaba tablets and substantial amounts of Crystal Meth Ice, Heroin, and Cocaine. Throughout the year, BGB apprehended 2,334 individuals for smuggling and detained 11,730 people, including foreign nationals, for illegal border crossing.
