In a pre-dawn raid, police recovered nine locally-made single-barrel guns hidden in sacks within the forests of Baromasia Tea Garden in Fatickchhari. Acting on a tip-off regarding a potential terrorist gathering, a joint team of district and local police conducted the operation on Tuesday.
Although the miscreants managed to flee the scene before police arrival, the recovery of the arsenal is seen as a major blow to criminal activities in the region. Vujpur Police Station OC Bipul Chandra Dey stated that the weapons were likely stockpiled for sabotage or to establish territorial dominance. A case under the Arms Act has been filed, and investigations are ongoing to track down the suspects.
