BIDA digitalizes remittance repatriation: Approvals now within 7 days

The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) has officially transitioned its remittance repatriation approval service to a fully online platform. This major update, announced on Thursday, January 22, allows investors to apply for royalty, technical assistance, and franchise fee approvals digitally.

Executive Chairman Ashik Chowdhury stated that the process is now faster, more transparent, and eco-friendly. Integrated with the newly launched ‘Bangla Biz’ platform, the system promises a 7-working-day Service Level Agreement (SLA). The project was supported by UNDP’s TEPP-II and funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO). With this addition, BIDA’s One Stop Service (OSS) now offers 142 online services, marking a significant step in improving the ease of doing business in Bangladesh.
