‘Operation Devil Hunt’ to Continue Until Threats Are Eliminated

Desk Report: Home Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury confirmed Wednesday that the nationwide ‘Operation Devil Hunt,’ led by joint forces, will continue as long as threats from criminals persist. He made this statement after attending the 45th National Assembly of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP at the Ansar-VDP Academy in Safipur, Gazipur.

In response to a question about illegal firearm seizures during the operation, Jahangir acknowledged that while the results have not fully met expectations, the number of seizures is expected to rise over time. “Although the seizures haven’t been as high as expected, they will increase in the coming days,” he said.

Jahangir also assured that the government is prioritizing the reasonable demands of Ansar and expressed appreciation for their contributions in maintaining law and order following the August 5 changeover. “Everyone should express gratitude for the Ansar’s role,” he added.

During the event, Jahangir highlighted the vital role of Ansar and VDP in national development and law enforcement. He awarded medals to 18 individuals for their exceptional service and bravery. A total of 156 personnel, including officers and employees, were recognized. The event also featured a tree planting ceremony and a visit to a cottage industry exhibition. Senior Home Secretary Nasimul Ghani attended as a special guest, and Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, presided over the function.
