The Pangaon Inland Container Terminal (PICT) has entered a new era of modernization as the Swiss-based global logistics giant, MEDLOG, officially commenced its management operations on Saturday. The terminal, located in West Keraniganj, aims to boost container movement and strengthen multimodal connectivity under a 22-year concession agreement with the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA).
Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hussain inaugurated the operations as the chief guest. Built at a cost of approximately Tk 155 crore, the terminal has struggled with significant operational losses over the past decade. MEDLOG aims to reverse this trend by introducing global best practices, advanced technology, and efficient handling systems to turn the facility into a profitable logistics hub. Experts highlighted that the modernization of PICT is vital for export-oriented industries and enhancing Bangladesh’s trade competitiveness in the global market.
