At least 12 terrorists were killed during a high-stakes counter-terrorism operation in Pakistan’s volatile Balochistan province on Thursday. The clash erupted following a coordinated assault on two commercial banks and a local police station in the Kharan district. According to the military’s media wing (ISPR), security personnel taken hostage during the raid were successfully rescued unharmed.
The militants reportedly looted approximately 3.4 million Pakistani Rupees before attempting to flee into the rugged terrain. Three separate encounters ensued, resulting in the deaths of 12 insurgents, some of whom had prior records of carrying out attacks in the region. This incident marks the most significant terror plot in Balochistan this year. Military sweeps are currently underway in and around Kharan to track down the remaining suspects, as authorities maintain a strict security posture in the restive province.
