The suspects have been identified as Md Shahidul Islam (29), Md Sabuj (30), and Md Sharifuzzaman (28). Authorities recovered cash and other stolen items from the suspects, and two additional individuals were also detained, though their names have not been disclosed for investigation purposes.

The robbery occurred on Monday night on a bus operated by “Amri Travels” under the Unique Road Royals service. The bus, which had departed Dhaka’s Gabtali terminal at 11:00 PM, was targeted by the robbers. Passengers reported that the robbery lasted for about three hours, with the assailants stealing cash, mobile phones, jewelry, and other valuables. In addition to the theft, two to three women on board were sexually assaulted during the ordeal.

Initially, the bus supervisor, driver, and assistant were detained by the police in relation to the incident, but they were later released on bail. A case was filed with Mirzapur Police Station three days after the incident, following a statement from plaintiff Omar Ali, a passenger from Baraigram, Natore, who described the assault and robbery.

Tangail Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman announced that Atikuzzaman, the duty officer at Mirzapur Police Station, has been dismissed for his failure to properly handle the case.
