Rajapur police have taken custody of a truck loaded with steel construction rods found abandoned in the Balaibari area late Friday night (February 27, 2026). The discovery sparked rumors of potential smuggling or theft among the local residents, who alerted the authorities after noticing the vehicle left unattended for an extended period.
While locals suspect the construction materials might be stolen property, the driver claimed the truck was left on the roadside due to a mechanical failure. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajapur Police Station stated that they have identified the potential owner and are currently scrutinizing the provided invoices and ownership documents. “We are verifying the legality of the cargo. Further legal actions will be taken once the authenticity of the documents is confirmed,” the official added.
The truck is presently held at the police station for further inspection of its chassis and engine details alongside the verified weight of the rods. Investigators are working to determine if there is any discrepancy between the transported goods and the legal permits. Until the investigation concludes, the origin of the steel rods remains a matter of official scrutiny, leaving the community awaiting a final verdict on the incident.
