In a crackdown on local drug networks, Rajapur Police arrested two suspected peddlers and seized a cache of Yaba tablets and marijuana on Tuesday night. The operation took place around 10:30 PM in the Baghri Bazar area. While the two young suspects were apprehended after a short chase, a third accomplice, identified as 54-year-old Samir Gazi, managed to evade capture and remains at large.
The arrestees are Zayed Zoha Khan (18) and Imon Hasan (20). According to police reports, Zayed was found in possession of 6 pieces of Yaba and cash allegedly earned from drug sales, while Imon was caught with 2 grams of marijuana. During initial interrogation, the suspects confessed that they were retailing drugs across various parts of Rajapur under the leadership of Samir Gazi. The raid was executed following a tip-off received during routine mobile patrol in the Baghri area.
Rajapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul Islam confirmed that a case has been registered under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018. “We have prepared a formal list of the seized items in the presence of witnesses. Our teams are currently conducting raids to locate and arrest the absconding suspect, Samir Gazi,” he added. Authorities emphasized that this operation is part of a broader strategy to neutralize small-scale drug distribution rings targeting local youths in the district.
