A Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kathalia Police Station was injured after being bitten by a drug peddler during an arrest attempt on Tuesday. Despite the sudden assault, police managed to apprehend the suspect, identified as Sujon Howlader (30), along with 8 pieces of Yaba tablets in South Chechri.
According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abu Naser Raihan, a police team led by SI Ratan conducted the raid based on a tip-off. When the team intercepted Sujon on the road in front of Sohrab Master’s house, he resisted arrest and bit the officer’s hand to secure his release.
SI Ratan received immediate medical attention for his injuries. Sujon, the son of Sobahan Howlader, is reportedly a known local dealer. Legal proceedings under the Narcotics Control Act are underway, and additional charges for assaulting a law enforcement officer on duty are expected to be filed.
