41 arrested in Bahrain for alleged links to Iran’s IRGC; Citizenship revoked for conspiracy

Date:

TBM Report

In a significant security crackdown, the Bahraini government has arrested 41 individuals for their alleged ties to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). According to the Ministry of Interior, the arrests were made following an investigation into a network reportedly collaborating with foreign powers to undermine national stability. Al Jazeera reported that the announcement marks a steep escalation in Bahrain’s measures against individuals suspected of having Iranian affiliations.

The Bahraini authorities have accused the detainees of showing sympathy towards Iran and engaging in conspiracies against the state during alleged threats of Iranian aggression. In an unprecedented move, the government also announced the revocation of citizenship for several individuals involved. This decision is based on charges of “betraying the nation” and cooperating with a foreign entity to compromise the kingdom’s sovereignty.

Political analysts view this massive crackdown as a message of zero tolerance toward foreign interference. Bahrain has long accused Tehran of inciting domestic unrest and supporting opposition groups, allegations which Iran consistently denies. The revocation of citizenship, a stern administrative and legal punishment, highlights the gravity with which Bahrain views these alleged security breaches.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that these operations are part of a broader strategy to safeguard the nation and its citizens from extremism and external threats. While the identities of the arrested individuals have not yet been fully disclosed, the legal proceedings against them are reportedly underway. There has been no immediate official response from Tehran regarding these developments.
