TBM Report

The local administration in Vedarganj, Shariatpur, fined a food production facility 100,000 BDT on Monday for manufacturing juices and edible jellies using hazardous chemicals and unauthorized colors. Acting on a tip-off, a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Sudipta Ghosh conducted the raid at ‘Fida Food & Beverage’ in the Arshinagar area. The owner, Jabrul SM Haque, was found guilty of violating food safety regulations by producing substandard food items primarily targeted at children.

During the operation, District Food Safety Officer Subrata Bhattacharya coordinated the inspection, uncovering the use of non-food grade dyes and toxic additives. The factory environment was also found to be severely unhygienic, further compromising the quality of the products. Following the findings, the mobile court imposed the fine and ordered the immediate destruction of all confiscated adulterated items to prevent them from reaching the market.

“Ensuring safe food for everyone is our primary objective, and we maintain zero tolerance against those who play with public health, especially children’s health,” stated Subrata Bhattacharya. He emphasized that such oversight operations will continue across the district to root out unauthorized and harmful food production cycles. The drive has been hailed by local residents as a crucial step toward protecting the health of the community.
