Member of Parliament for Jhalakathi-2, Israt Sultana Elen Bhutto, visited the site of a devastating fire in Nalchity upazila on Monday, March 9, 2026. The fire had recently gutted six shops in the Dapdapia Union, leaving local businessmen in a dire financial state. During her visit, the lawmaker inspected the charred remains of the establishments and personally spoke with the affected shopkeepers, expressing her deep concern over the massive losses they sustained.
The victims informed the MP that the blaze had consumed their entire inventory and savings, leaving them with no means to support their families. They urgently appealed for government intervention to help rebuild their livelihoods. MP Elen Bhutto took detailed notes on the extent of the damage and assured the victims that their plight would be handled with the highest priority. She pledged to coordinate with the local administration to ensure that relief funds and reconstruction aid reach them as soon as possible.
