In a stunning political revelation that has sent shockwaves through the local governance architecture, the current Administrator of the Cumilla District Council, Mo. Mostaque Ahmed, has publicly accused top leaders of the National Patriotic Party (NCP) of orchestrating an unauthorized multi-million BDT diversion from the council’s internal revenue reserves. Addressing a major political congregation at the Cumilla Shilpakala Academy on Saturday afternoon, Administrator Mostaque alleged that NCP Spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan unilaterally withdrew 150 million BDT ($15 Crore) during his tenure as an interim government advisor, while NCP’s Southern Chief Organizer and current Member of Parliament for Cumilla-4, Hasnat Abdullah, extracted another 100 million BDT ($10 Crore).
The explosive indictments were delivered during an official seminar commemorating the 45th martyrdom anniversary of the founder of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), organized by the Cumilla South District and Municipal units. “These individuals advocated for an egalitarian, anti-discrimination political paradigm across Bangladesh, yet their administrative practices reveal a severe compromise of financial trust. They targeted our council’s proprietary revenue framework, drawing down a cumulative 250 million BDT under the guise of political coordination,” Mostaque, who also serves as the BNP’s Divisional Joint-Organizational Secretary, asserted before a packed assembly of civil society and political operatives.
Expanding on the country’s macro-political stabilization, Mostaque noted that the nation has transitioned into a democratically mandated era under the active governance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. “The elected administration, pioneered by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, is currently shoulder-deep in structural economic reconstruction, working tirelessly to remediate the fiscal systemic damage inherited from the previous autocratic regime,” the administrator added. Immediate logistical attempts to cross-examine Administrator Mostaque regarding the precise bank clearance codes, transaction dates, and specific ledger entries utilized for these withdrawals were deferred by his personal attaché, who cited the administrator’s ongoing engagement in subsequent state protocols.
Simultaneously, investigatory correspondents initiated multiple digital tracking and telecommunication sweeps to secure formal responses from MP Hasnat Abdullah and NCP Spokesperson Asif Mahmud regarding the allegations of severe public fund diversion.
