Iran conflict is not an “Endless War,” asserts Benjamin Netanyahu

Date:

TBM Report

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has sought to downplay fears of a prolonged military confrontation, stating that the recent strikes on Iran will not spiral into an “endless war.” During an exclusive interview with Fox News on Monday (March 2, 2026), Netanyahu characterized the joint U.S.-Israeli military action as a “swift and decisive” operation aimed at neutralizing Tehran’s strategic threats. While he acknowledged that full stabilization might take some time, he insisted it would not drag on for years.

The Prime Minister defended the military intervention by alleging that Iran was on the verge of completing “impenetrable” underground bunkers for its nuclear and ballistic missile programs. Netanyahu claimed that if they hadn’t acted now, these facilities—started following the so-called “12-day war” last June—would have become nearly impossible to destroy within months. He framed the strikes as a preemptive necessity to prevent Iran from achieving nuclear breakout capability in a highly fortified environment.

In contrast, U.S. President Donald Trump has offered a more cautious assessment regarding the timeline of the conflict. Trump’s recent evaluations suggest that regional hostilities could persist for four weeks or more, diverging from Netanyahu’s optimistic outlook of a rapid resolution. This discrepancy highlights the tactical tension between the two allies as they navigate the aftermath of the most significant escalation in Western Asia in recent history.

Geopolitical analysts warn that despite the “decisive” rhetoric, the risk of a wider regional conflict remains high if escalation is not contained immediately. The operational success of the strikes on Iranian bunkers may be overshadowed by the potential for asymmetric retaliation across the Gulf region. As the world watches, the duration and scope of this conflict remain a critical pivot point for global energy security and international diplomacy.
