Leading organizations in the recruiting, Hajj, and travel sectors held a solidarity seminar on Saturday in support of Mirza Abbas, the BNP nominee for the Dhaka-8 constituency. At the event held in Nayapaltan’s Ananda Bhaban, business leaders urged voters to support the ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ (Dhaner Shish) symbol in the upcoming 13th general election.
The speakers particularly criticized the new regulation requiring a BDT 1 million security deposit for travel agencies, calling it a “burden on dying businesses.” Former ATAB Joint Secretary Atiqur Rahman urged Mirza Abbas to advocate for the repeal of this “oppressive law” in parliament. Leaders from BAIRA and HAAB emphasized that Abbas’s leadership is essential for protecting the interests of the travel and manpower export industry.
