Home Advisor Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) has emphasized that security and human rights are complementary in modern prison management. Speaking at the passing-out parade of the 63rd batch of female warders at Kashimpur, he asserted that reintegrating inmates as reformed citizens is a core state responsibility.
The Advisor highlighted that prison staff are public servants paid by taxpayers and must remain free from political bias or personal greed. He warned that any involvement in corruption or serving vested interest groups undermines the state’s foundation. “Ensuring dignity and fair facilities for inmates is not just a legal obligation but a reflection of the state’s morality,” he added.
During the ceremony, the Advisor reviewed the parade and distributed awards to top-performing female warders. He reiterated the government’s commitment to building a transparent and accountable criminal justice system.
