A 75-year-old woman died on the spot after a speeding bus struck her in the capital’s busy Paltan area on Saturday afternoon. The victim, identified as Saleha Begum, was crossing the road near the Gulab Shah Shrine when the accident occurred.
Police recovered the body around 12:45 PM and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy. According to witnesses, a bus operated by ‘Dohar-Nawabganj Paribahan’ (Dhaka Metro-Ga-15-1555) hit the woman with significant force, causing her immediate death.
Saleha Begum lived in the Gulab Shah Shrine area. Following the incident, Paltan police seized the vehicle and took it into custody.
