State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir signed the official condolence book at the Nepal Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, expressing deep sympathies on behalf of the Bangladesh Government over the devastating floods and mudslides in northern Nepal.
In his message, the State Minister conveyed profound condolences to the Government and citizens of Nepal following the August 26 disaster, which claimed hundreds of lives, including foreign tourists, and caused widespread destruction to infrastructure.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of Bangladesh, I extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the Government and the friendly people of Nepal for the tragic loss of lives and large-scale destruction caused by the devastating floods,” Kobir wrote in the condolence log.
He highlighted Bangladesh’s readiness to assist its neighbor during this critical period. Kobir reaffirmed that Bangladesh stands in full solidarity with Nepal and remains prepared to extend any relief or technical assistance required by the Nepalese authorities.
Expressing confidence in the spirit of the affected nation, the State Minister noted that the resilience of the Nepalese people would help them endure and recover from this natural calamity with fortitude.
The northern region of Nepal experienced severe flash floods and mudslides on August 26, prompting immediate regional diplomatic outreach and international sympathy from neighboring South Asian nations.
