Trump sidesteps pentagon telemetry on Iranian school strike

Date:

TBM Report

US President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that ultimate culpability for the catastrophic missile strike on an Iranian girls’ school during the opening salvos of the conflict may “never be definitively resolved.” The strike, which targeted the Shajareh Tayyiba school in Minab on February 28, resulted in the immediate deaths of over 175 children and faculty members. Despite preliminary internal Pentagon assessments indicating US targeting parameters were likely responsible, Trump explicitly distanced the administration from absolute accountability during an executive press briefing.

The investigation, initially exposed by Reuters in March, underscored that the operational failure in southern Iran was structurally linked to the US military’s reliance on outdated or unverified targeting coordinates during tactical sorting. While the Department of Defense subsequently expanded its investigation, it has consistently withheld formal public validation of those baseline liabilities. Addressing reporters, Trump categorized the strike as a byproduct of localized operational friction, stating, “I don’t know if they’re ever going to resolve that question of whose fault it was, because you had missiles flying everywhere. It was a horrific event, but missiles were flying all over the place.”

The Commander-in-Chief further reinforced executive denial regarding direct cross-border culpability, asserting, “Some people claimed it was our missile; maybe it wasn’t. I have seen nothing to lead me to believe that it was ours, and I don’t believe we did it.” This position contrasts with continuous technical analytical reports from CNN and international human rights watchdogs, which introduced localized video telemetry and fragmentation patterns implicating Western ordinances. The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) formally designated the Minab assault as “utterly horrific,” forcing a shift from Trump’s initial unverified claims that Tehran had staged the event for defensive propaganda.
