Terrorism via Afghan soil unacceptable: Pakistan army chief Asim Munir

Date:

TBM Report

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, has issued a stern warning that the use of Afghan territory for terrorist activities against Pakistan is “unacceptable.” During his high-stakes visit to the South Waziristan district of Wana on Wednesday (March 4, 2026), the Army Chief emphasized that Pakistan would take all necessary measures to counter threats emanating from across the border.

The visit follows the launch of “Operation Ghazab lil Haq,” a massive military response initiated by Pakistan on February 26, 2026, following alleged attacks by the Afghan Taliban at 53 locations along the 2,600-km border. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir reviewed the operational readiness and the security environment of the region. He stated that sustainable peace in the region is only possible if the Afghan Taliban completely renounces its support for terrorist organizations.

During the briefing, the COAS was informed about intelligence-based operations and border management measures. His presence in the front-line district of Wana signals a decisive shift in Pakistan’s defense posture, moving toward a more proactive stance against cross-border incursions. As the conflict intensifies, international observers are closely watching the developing situation between Islamabad and Kabul.
