BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman is scheduled to address a major election rally in Sirajganj today, ending a 20-year hiatus from the district. As part of his campaign for the 13th National Parliamentary Election, Tarique will speak as the chief guest at the BSCIC Industrial Park in the Sadar Upazila.
Local BNP leaders expect a historic turnout of over 200,000 people, with candidates from both Sirajganj and Pabna attending to be formally introduced by the party chief. The visit is being described by grassroots leaders as a “political tonic” that will rejuvenate the party’s ranks. Meanwhile, Sirajganj Police Superintendent Saiful Islam Santu confirmed that multi-layered security measures, including plainclothes surveillance, have been deployed to ensure peace during the event.
