Reform Commissions’ Reports and Recommendations to Be Unveiled on February 8

Desk Report– The complete reports and recommendations of six reform commissions will be made public on February 8, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul announced on Tuesday.

Speaking at a briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy, Nazrul revealed that the heads of the reform commissions will present their findings, outlining short-term, medium-term, and long-term actions necessary for the reform process. The reports and recommendations will also be shared with political parties and groups involved in the July mass uprising on the same day.

The briefing was attended by Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Mazumdar, and Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi.

Nazrul further stated that following the disclosure of the reports, discussions and negotiations among political parties and factions associated with the July mass movement will commence. These talks are expected to lead to the first formal meeting of the National Consensus Commission, scheduled for mid-February.

The inaugural meeting of the National Consensus Commission will be chaired by its chief, Professor Muhammad Yunus. Representatives from all political parties, movement-aligned forces, and the heads of the reform commissions are expected to attend.

The exact date of the meeting will be finalized in consultation with political parties, Nazrul added.

This development marks a significant step in the ongoing reform process, aiming to foster national consensus and address key issues through collaborative efforts.
