Tehran proposes three preconditions to halt hostilities; Demands compensation and nuclear rights

Date:

TBM Report

On the 12th day of the escalating conflict, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has laid out three primary conditions for ending the current hostilities. In a strategic social media announcement on Wednesday (March 11, 2026), the President emphasized that while Tehran remains committed to regional stability, the cessation of military actions hinges on the international community’s recognition of Iran’s sovereign rights and security interests.

The primary conditions put forth by Tehran include the formal recognition of Iran’s legitimate rights under international law, specifically regarding its nuclear program. Secondly, the President demanded comprehensive financial compensation for the extensive damages incurred during the recent military strikes. Lastly, Iran is seeking ironclad international guarantees to prevent any future military aggression against its sovereign territory. This marks the first instance where a high-ranking Iranian official has publicly tied the cessation of war to financial reparations.

President Pezeshkian confirmed that these points were reiterated during high-level consultations with the leadership of Russia and Pakistan. Iran’s longstanding position is that as a signatory to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), uranium enrichment for peaceful purposes remains a non-negotiable right. This diplomatic maneuver is seen as an attempt to garner regional support while placing the onus of peace on the attacking parties.
