Body of Indian assistant high commission protocol officer recovered in Chattogram

Date:

TBM Report

The Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) on Tuesday recovered the body of a diplomatic official from inside the premises of the Indian Assistant High Commission in the port city. The deceased, identified as Naren Dhar (38), was officially stationed as the Protocol Officer at the diplomatic mission. The recovery has triggered rigorous investigations by domestic security networks and intelligence wings, as the body was evacuated to the Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital morgue for a comprehensive post-mortem examination.

According to local witnesses, an unusual and high-density deployment of tactical law enforcement personnel was observed outside the Indian mission in the city’s upscale Khulshi residential area early Tuesday morning. Speculations mounted among nearby residents until an emergency ambulance, under active police escort, was seen transferring the covered remains from the diplomatic estate at approximately 9:30 AM (May 19, 2026).

Confirming the geopolitical developments to the press, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Media and Public Relations) Aminur Rashid stated that operational units dispatched to the scene retrieved the body immediately upon being alerted by the mission administration. “Naren Dhar was actively serving as the Protocol Officer for the Indian Assistant High Commission. While structural inquiries have commenced post-recovery, the precise clinical etiology behind the officer’s demise remains unestablished at this juncture,” the police official stated.

Senior forensic experts and homicide detectives have maintained absolute discretion regarding whether any incriminating or suspicious evidence was logged from the secure consular zone. CMP officials noted that judicial clarity regarding the cause of death is strictly contingent upon the upcoming autopsy and toxicological findings. Concurrently, diplomatic correspondents attempting to establish contact with the Indian Assistant High Commission for an institutional brief were met with no official commentary or press release from the mission executives.
