Both the BNP candidate, Mahmudul Haq Rubel, and the Jamaat candidate, Nuruzzaman Badal, have traded accusations over the incident.
Sherpur District Police Superintendent Kamrul Islam confirmed that an investigation is underway and law enforcement agencies are on high alert to prevent further escalation.
