Desk Report: The official launch of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (National Citizens’ Party) is set to take place tomorrow afternoon at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka, where the party’s finalized leadership names will be formally announced.
Preparations for the event, initiated by the Jatiya Nagorik Committee and Students Against Discrimination, are in full swing. The party’s debut will feature a massive rally near the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, with workers seen preparing the stage in front of the south gate of the Sangsad Bhaban.
The leaders of the two platforms expect a turnout of around 300,000 people. The rally is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm.
Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee, mentioned that various political leaders, diplomats, families of martyrs from the July mass uprising, injured activists, and expatriates who played significant roles in the movement will be present. Additionally, individuals from various professions who contributed to the uprising, along with students and members of the general public who actively participated in the July movement, are also expected to attend.
The event will begin with recitations from the Holy Quran and other religious scriptures, followed by speeches from the families of the July uprising martyrs and injured individuals. A documentary on the July uprising will also be screened.
Sources indicate that a partial committee will be announced during the event, with the full committee expected to consist of 151 members.
