National Election Could Be Held by December: Yunus at World Government Summit

Desk Report:Chief Adviser Prof. Mohammad Yunus reaffirmed his commitment to holding the national election by the end of this year. He made this statement during an interactive plenary session at the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai on Thursday.

Yunus emphasized that the national election could take place by December, following the implementation of the July Charter and based on the recommendations of the National Consensus Commission. The session was moderated by CNN’s Becky Anderson.

Earlier, Yunus had expressed his intent to hold the election by the year’s end, including during a meeting with a BNP delegation on February 10, 2025.

While addressing the summit, Yunus outlined his government’s efforts to form reform commissions in various sectors. He highlighted that these commissions have already submitted recommendations aimed at rebuilding the country while preserving the spirit of the July-August mass upsurge.

“We will draft a charter based on the political parties’ recommendations and proceed to hold the national election after those recommendations are implemented,” he stated.

Prof. Yunus arrived in Dubai on Wednesday evening to attend the summit, where he was welcomed by the UAE Minister of Sports, Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi.
