BNP-Affiliated Bodies Launch Long March Towards Agartala Against “Indian Aggression”

Desk Report: Three associate organisations of the BNP—Jubo Dal, Swechchasebak Dal, and Chhatra Dal—have embarked on a long march towards Agartala, protesting what they described as “Indian aggression.” Thousands of leaders and activists joined the march, which began from the BNP’s central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka, at 9:00 AM on Monday. The march is set to conclude at the Akhaura border in Brahmanbaria by evening.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi inaugurated the march. In his address, he stated, “India does not want Bangladesh to be governed by the will of its people.” He further emphasized that the protest reflects the people’s resistance against foreign interference in the country’s affairs.

Participants began gathering at Nayapaltan as early as 7:00 AM, donning colorful caps and carrying posters and placards with slogans. Before starting the march, the three organisations held a short rally to outline the objectives of the protest.

The march is scheduled to travel through Narayanganj and Narsingdi, with a significant roadside rally planned at Bhairab intersection. Key leaders from the participating organisations are expected to address the gathering at the rally, highlighting their concerns over recent incidents in India.

The protest was sparked by alleged attacks on the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, the desecration of the Bangladeshi national flag in Kolkata, and claims of a conspiracy to incite communal unrest.

The BNP and its affiliated bodies have framed the march as a symbol of defiance against external aggression and a call for protecting Bangladesh’s sovereignty. Leaders emphasized their commitment to mobilizing public opinion against what they perceive as unjust actions and safeguarding national interests.

The march is expected to draw significant attention as it progresses towards the Akhaura border, with thousands of participants voicing their demands along the route.
