Desk Report:
The interim government has introduced a 5% quota for children of those injured or killed during the July-August 2024 uprising in government school admissions.
An office order issued by the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education on Sunday confirmed the implementation of this decision, which was first announced on February 20.
Under this new policy, 5% of seats in government secondary schools will be reserved for the children of freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters, and families of those affected by the July 2024 uprising. School and college principals have been instructed to adhere to these guidelines.
Applicants must submit verified copies of relevant certificates or gazettes, alongside their applications, and present the original documents during the admission process. The certificates issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs for freedom fighters or gazettes for the martyrs must undergo thorough verification.
If no eligible candidates from these families are found, the reserved seats will be filled based on merit, ensuring that no seats remain vacant. Authorities are instructed to ensure the proper implementation of this directive.
